His delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psalm i.2.
Commentary:
So many times Jesus showed us the example of when, where and how to pray.
Jesus' Teaching on Prayer
WhereOne day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." Jesus prayed alone. His prayer in Gethsemane (Thy Will Be Done) and the Cross (It is Finished) give us the example of praying when facing impending danger
It appears that every important event in the life of Jesus, the Son of God, called for prayer. Shouldn’t we today who are called God’s children make prayer a regular practice? On those occasions when we fail to achieve the desired results, perhaps it is because we have left God out of our plans! As Paul noted we are to pray unceasing. Obviously, we cannot pray 24 hours a day, but we can be in a mode of prayer that allows us to be ready to pray.
How
Around 30 A.D. Jesus spoke a compilation of moral teachings which many believe to be a commentary on the Ten Commandments. The Lord's Prayer is a major portion of the teaching; as well as, the Beatitudes. The prayer for daily bread insinuates daily prayer.
Abraham Lincoln's Daily Devotional
"Meditation"
"Meditation"
I love in solitude to shed
The penitential tear;
And all his promises to plead
When none but God is near.
I love to think on mercies past.
And future good implore;
And all my cares and sorrows cast
On him whom I adore.
