A Tme for Quiet...
Love’s Promise
Wayne Watkins
BACKGROUND PASSAGE: Hosea 14:1-9
INTRODUCTION to the lesson: (This suggestion might work well with MEDIAN ADULTS, since many have family members in nursing home facilities.)
Say: Next to our promise to God, there is no greater promise than the one we make to our spouse. Recently the Houston Chronicle reported in the "Lifestyle" section the story of Sam and Kay Perlin. The article is called "For Katie’s sake."
Sam and Kay have been married for over 58 years. Recently Kay had to be moved to a nursing home and Sam’s promise to care for her "in sickness and in health" is just as strong as ever. Three times a day Sam goes to the nursing home and feeds his "Katie." At breakfast, lunch, and dinner, everyday, Sam feeds "Katie" slowly making the most of their moments together. Each time Sam goes to the nursing home, he stays for about two hours. Then at the end of the day, he brushes "Katie’s" false teeth and tells her good night.
In the article, Katie says, "When I see him come in my whole world changes. Sammy is terrific. They don’t come any better."

As one who is lucky enough to have a wife like Sam...Valentine's Day becomes so much
more special now than ever. Such love and caring is far more than man could ever create. it's a Godsend through the Son. Jesu established a new love "agape". It can only be discovered and honored each day...but especially on the day of Love.
Make this Valentine's Day more than a card or even jewelry and candy.
O that is a fine gift, but give it from the heart with a special word of thanks
to that spouse, or special friend, whose world changes with each smile
and each kind word and geture.
Let all who spend one minute starting love spend a lifetime helping it to grow.
Lord....
Help us to find the right words
to show we care.
Grant that they not
be left unheard...
Amen...
